Oceanside Care Center Celebrates Thanksgiving and Hannukah on the Same Day

Oceanside, NY, November 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Families all over the country look forward to the holiday season all year round. This year, however, things are going to be a little different. Oddly, both Hannukah and Thanksgiving will be celebrated on the same day this year.

The celebration of both Hannukah and Thanksgiving on the same day is definitely an anomaly. This is the first time this has happened in over 100 years. Each holiday celebrates an event that occurred in totally different time periods. Thanksgiving commemorates the peace made between the Pilgrims and Native Americans in colonial America. Hannukah is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the defeat of King Antiochus by the Maccabees in the time of the holy Temple in Jerusalem.

Despite their obvious differences both Thanksgiving and Hannukah are holidays that bring together families and friends. Each holiday is associated with its own traditional meals and activities that make them even more memorable.
