Horse&Rider Magazine Announces the Winners of the Third Annual Your Horse, Your Life Contest

Meet the Grand Prize winner and the top six finalists.

Boulder, CO, November 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- From performing the perfect pivot to crossing a treacherous creek, horses make their owners proud every day. Horse&Rider magazine received hundreds of #HorseProud stories from readers across the United States as entries in the third annual Your Horse, Your Life Contest in which the fans chose the top-seven finalists, and the official judges’ panel declared a winner.

The Grand Prize winner of the third annual Your Horse, Your Life contest is Lauryn Zepeda of Bolivia, North Carolina. Zepeda’s essay about her mustang, “Gringo,” caught the attention of voters and judges alike with the heartwarming story of Zepeda winning over the heart of a mustang. Zepeda’s entry went on to say, “Gringo and I are still on a journey, one involving overcoming fears. I’m realizing that all the trials are foundation of the bond we’re building. His latest testimony of trust was when he allowed me to load him up and participate in an obstacle competition. I’ve never placed a prouder seventh, winning nothing but a more amazing level of partnership.”

For her winning entry, Zepeda will receive a prize package from Weaver Leather including exclusive items of tack from Weaver’s 2014 product line as well as being featured in the January 2014 issue of Horse&Rider magazine where readers can learn more about her and Gringo.

Along with Zepeda, six other finalists chosen by voters will receive prizes from Weaver Leather. The six finalists are Debbie Wheaton of Arizona, Shelby Parker of Illinois, Jennifer Bingham of Tennessee, Leesha Davis of Oregon, Kassie Tabor of North Carolina, and Chelsey Kelly of California.
