“When I first started out in this business, there wasn’t much support available to me. It’s my sincere pleasure to be able to mentor in an industry that is so special to me,” said Cataletto. “I am deeply humbled by this award,” concluded Cataletto.
While Barbara has surpassed the glass ceiling in her industry, she is all too willing to show others how they can do the same. As a mentor, she leads by example and is never too busy to spend time with someone who wants to be educated in the spine industry. As an employer, she makes sure all her employees have equal opportunity for advancement and in addition to spending time working with each and every one of them, helping them hone their craft, she also supports them by providing outside education when called for. She understands that success comes from hard work and determination to succeed and she transmits this drive to her employees.
“Over three years ago, Barbara saw potential in me and has proven to show that throughout my career track within her company. As a boss, Barbara has no problem answering any question you may have but she will guide you in the right direction to figure it out. Once you do figure it out she will commend you on your findings. Having a great teacher, role model and knowledgeable person such as Barbara is rare and her influence and perseverance keeps me wanting to work just as hard personally and professionally and grow every day. It also allows me to be the best that I can be,” said Michael McDowell, Processing Manager.
She created The Business of Spine, the only company of its kind, providing educational and consulting services to the spine professional to meet the needs of the spine industry. The Business of Spine has also won a 2013 Stevie Award as the most innovative company with 10 or less employees.
