Woodstock Welcomes Portland Family Health - a Full-Service Family Focused Wellness Center

Portland, OR, November 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- In November of 2013, Portland Family Health opened its doors at 4004 Southeast Woodstock Boulevard. The blue foursquare on the corner of 40th has seen a major facelift over the past two months, and is now full of family-friendly health providers. The practice includes chiropractic, naturopathic, midwifery, acupuncture, nutrition, women’s wellness, massage therapy and counseling. Each of these businesses has merged into this community from other private practice sites across Southeast Portland.

Portland Family Health has been in the making for two years with a core group of four healthcare providers, who are friends and mothers, and were committed to creating a true wellness haven for young families. Woodstock Boulevard hosts a myriad of wonderful small businesses, many of which serve young families, so Portland Family Health felt it was the perfect little main street community to join and feel right at home. The founders, Colleen Gibson, LaC, Alisha Madrone, CNM, Jen Curtiss, ND and Jess Desbrow, DC have felt “warmly welcomed by every local interaction, and we know our patients will love having so many complimentary family services to visit before and after their appointments”.

The building was built in 1908 as a home for a member of the All Saints Church across the street, was later a real estate office, then most recently a law office. The new owners, Jess and Mark Desbrow, remodeled the office, describing their consistent intention to “create a warm, welcoming, comfortable space where folks have access to just about any service they could need under one roof.” Dr. Jess Desbrow relocated her practice, Growing Care Chiropractic, Craniosacral and Massage from Division and 42nd, and is excited to “team up with other experts in pregnancy, pediatric and family care to provide a cohesive and collaborative style of healthcare that everyone deserves.”

Walking into the front office at Portland Family Health, the greeting includes freshly painted green walls, orange furniture, flowers and a friendly receptionist. Beyond this, there is a second waiting room full of toys, books, a mini kitchen, a diaper changing table, brewing hot tea and a comfy red leather sofa. In the backyard, there is a mini picnic table and a kids playhouse. New bike racks were installed in the front of the office by the city, and there are plans to add a covered sitting area in the front with hopes to inspire a comfortable community gathering space.
