JFCS Adopt a Family for the Holidays Program Seeks Adopters
Jewish Family & Children’s Service has kicked off its Annual Adopt A Family for the Holidays program and is currently in need of individuals or families willing to adopt a child or family to make a difference and help a needy family this holiday season.
Sarasota, FL, November 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast, Inc. (JFCS), the premier local safety net social service organization, has kicked off its Annual Adopt A Family for the Holidays program that offers more than 100 families, including 316 children, basic life necessities and desired items for their holiday celebration. JFCS is currently in need of individuals or families willing to adopt a child or family to make a difference and help a needy family this holiday season.
A wish list for each child and the family is matched with a community member who is willing to purchase any or all items on the list that includes clothes, toys, and/or sometimes gift cards. The gifts, which qualify as a charitable donation and tax deduction, are requested to be wrapped and dropped off at JFCS’ 2688 Fruitville Road office by close of business Monday, December 9, 2013.
“To know that one child will have their Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah while meeting his or her basic needs is priceless!” stated Rose Chapman, LCSW, president and CEO of JFCS. “Each year we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community who help make the holidays brighter for our families.”
The Adopt a Family for the Holidays initiative directly benefits children and families who receive services through the JFCS’ Building Strong Families Homelessness Prevention Program, Safe Alternative to Out of School Suspension Program and the Healthy Families/Healthy Children program. Each year, JFCS serves more than 700 families by providing services that help them to become self-sufficient.
