JFCS Expands to Charlotte County to Serve Homeless & At-Risk Veteran Families
Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast, Inc. (JFCS) opened a Charlotte County office located at 514 Grace Street in Punta Gorda, FL on Monday, December 2, 2013. An expansion of JFCS’ Operational Military Assistance Program, the Charlotte County office will serve veteran families who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sarasota, FL, December 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- An open house is also planned for Friday, December 20, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 (Noon). Refreshments will be served and guests will be offered a brief tour with the opportunity to meet with and ask questions of staff.
The Operation Military Assistance Program (OMAP) supports veterans and their families in obtaining and/or maintaining stable, permanent housing. The program also offers integrated case management services, assisting veterans with obtaining VA and other public mainstream benefits, temporary financial support, as well as connecting program participants with other agencies and organizations serving veterans. Funded primarily by a grant from the Department of Veteran Affairs, JFCS’ Operation Military Assistance Program continues to grow and receive additional funding in large part due to the program’s continued success of serving more veterans than projected.
“We are excited to be growing and expanding our veteran services into Charlotte County,” commented Rose Chapman, LCSW, president and CEO of JFCS. “When we polled the community, the need for additional housing options was indicated as a much needed service so we are collaborating with the community and its agencies to respond.”
For more information or to see if you or a loved one qualifies for services, please contact an OMAP Case Manager at 941-366-2224, ext. 195.
