New Low Cost Light Sensor for Datalogging in Schools
ScienceScope, one of the UK’s leading developers of datalogging equipment that provides technology-based science learning solutions, has added a new low cost sensor to the ScienceScope family. The new General Purpose Light Sensor measures light levels in a range of 1 to 5 log lx.
Bath, United Kingdom, January 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- ScienceScope, one of the UK’s leading developers of datalogging equipment that provides technology-based science learning solutions, has added a new low cost sensor to the ScienceScope family. The new General Purpose Light Sensor measures light levels in a range of 1 to 5 log lx.
Using ScienceScope’s Light Sensor, students can compare variations of light levels, measuring over the full range of light levels experienced in the normal environment. In Datadisc the values recorded can be converted to lux using the derived sensor functions and give you accurate lux reading from this sensor.
The design of this sensor is a general purpose, low cost light sensor with the minimum recommended recording interval of 1ms.
This sensor can be used as a method of studying light refraction & decay, how light affects the growth of living organisms such as a leaf, impact of materials on light, efficiency of a light bulb. All of these experiments can be carried out using a light sensor with Datadisc software and a ScienceScope Datalogger. Experiment examples can be found on the ScienceScope website www.sciencescope.co.uk.
