Detectamet is Named Company of the Year by the Society of Food Hygiene Technology
Detectamet Detectable Products has been recognised as the “Company of the Year 2013” by the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology, the UK’s leading professional body in food safety.
York, United Kingdom, January 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology (SOFHT), Britain’s premier professional body of Food Safety Technologists has recognised UK based Detectamet Limited as the company of the year with less than 100 employees for 2013. This award is a major milestone for the company as it marks its 10th anniversary.
“To be recognised by this respected independent body of food safety specialists is a great honour,” said Angela Musson, Detectamet’s Managing Director. “We invited our guests to the SOFHT lecture and lunch to help us celebrate our ten years in business and this award was the icing on the celebratory cake.”
The presentation of the award to the Company of the Year with less than 100 employees was carried out by Professor Hugh Pennington who had given the Society’s annual lecture. It took place in front of more than 300 food industry professionals in London.
Detectamet is the leading manufacturer of metal detectable products and equipment for the food industry with a range of over 180 products that help to prevent the contamination of food. The company exports its products to over 40 countries around the world through over 150 distributors.
“We strive to meet the food safety needs of the food industry and this award will be a further boost to all our staff,” said Sean Smith Detectamet’s CEO. “The UK food industry is now recognised around the world as practitioners of the highest standards of food safety, so to be given this award by its leading professional body is quite overwhelming.”
In 2013, the company has launched more than 20 new products to help food producers protect their products from plastic contamination and reduce the risk of expensive recalls. These range from the Cryopen for use in cold environments to the detectable pallet wrap. Detectamet products can be detected by both metal and X-ray detection systems.
