Exclusive SGS Seminar on HALT / HASS Testing Methods Held in October in Munich, Germany
SGS Germany hosted an exclusive seminar on the HALT and HASS product reliability testing methods, between October 8 and 9, 2013, in Munich, Germany.
Munich, Germany, December 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The seminar conveyed in its first parts the theoretical principles and benefits of HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening). In the practical portion, participants had the opportunity to gather hands-on experience in conducting tests at the SGS HALT facility.
Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) - Definition
The HALT process allows for quick identification of potential vulnerabilities due to extreme strain on the system very early in the development process.
Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) - Definition
HASS - on the basis of HALT - concerns a procedure in which the quality of the series-produced product is tested.
HALT / HASS Seminar Day One
On the first day of the seminar, Dr. Jochen Beier, Senior Test Engineer - Environmental Simulation at SGS Germany GmbH, presented the principles of HALT/HASS (http://www.sgs.com/en/Consumer-Goods-Retail/Electrical-and-Electronics/Audio-Video-and-Household-Appliances/Reliability-Testing/HALT-and-HASS.aspx), the purpose and benefits of HALT and transition process from HALT to HASS. This theoretical part was followed by a lab tour of the Battery Test House and the EMC and Product Safety departments.
HALT / HASS Seminar Day Two
On day two of the seminar, Edwin Dietel, Reliability Engineer at Continental Automotive GmbH, held a presentation on; “HALT/HASS – Early Detection and Optimization of Reliability Indicators.” In the workshop part of the day, Dr. Jochen Beier performed a practical demonstration of the HALT method at the local SGS HALT facility. The second seminar day ended with a lab tour of the Environmental Simulation department.
The event offered participants plenty of opportunities for discussion and feedback both during the workshop part and the casual discussion breaks throughout the two seminar days.
