Street Light Mission Distributes Food and Gifts to Families in Need
For most of us this Christmas season will create many wonderful memories… joyous times together with loved ones, delicious home cooked meals, and gifts of warmth and love.
Jersey City, NJ, December 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Beginning on Tuesday, December 17th through Thursday, December 19th, StreetLight Mission will be distributing groceries and Christmas presents to families in need. The Mission provides assistance to more than 2,000 registered families each year who are victims of poverty, substance abuse, physical abuse, mental illness, and most of all hopelessness. Most of these families have to make difficult choices on how to spend their limited funds. There is no money left over for extra things like a Christmas dinner or presents. For the last ten years, StreetLight has been filling in the gap for thousands of families. StreetLight Mission, President Karen Yuschak, shares,
“We journey with these families helping them to overcome the hurdles they face. At Christmas, it is our joy to help parents by providing food and presents for their families. Christmas should be a time of joy and hope. I cannot imagine, as a parent, having my children wake up on Christmas morning to no food and no presents. With the help of thousands of generous people we make sure that those who need help get it.”

StreetLight Mission also provides Basic Life Needs such as food, clothing, employment and medical assistance, and housing referrals. Another much needed service it provides is recovery mentoring through Celebrate Recovery. There are also other similar programs dedicated specifically to men, women, and children.
