Scalada Holdings to Build Desalination Facility in South America
As the world’s water supply diminishes; Scalada Holdings plans construction of desalination facility in South America.
Singapore, Singapore, December 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Scalada Holdings, Ltd. the Singapore based provider of water decontamination and desalination solutions and its wholly owned Nevada based subsidiary, Titan Holdings, Inc., has announced that it hopes to secure a contract to build a desalination plant on the coast of northern Chile. Upon completion, the plant would provide sufficient desalinated water to operate a nearby mining site.
With increasingly severe water shortages in northern Chile, and little water remaining for drinking or mining, mine operating companies have been urged by the Chilean government to seek environmentally sustainable solutions to the water crisis. Scalada Holdings have been approached to provide their expertise and showcase their Elemental Ionization System (EIS) with a view to constructing a sizeable desalination facility in an effort to help sustain Chile’s mining driven-economy.
Manly Logan, Chief Executive Officer of Scalada Holdings, said, “While desalination isn’t a panacea, we feel it is an important and necessary step in the right direction for countries who wish to safeguard their economic growth in an environmentally sustainable way.”
Desalination (salt filtering) is a method for decontaminating that has been in use for decades. Early techniques involved boiling the saline water and capturing the vapours, an expensive and energy intensive practice. Today, Scalada Holdings’ unique proprietary water treatment technology offers a far more energy efficient method. Scalada’s unique EIS, the culmination of decades of experience, research and development, is a technological innovation that has drastically reduced the cost per cubic meter of desalinating water. Instead of using traditional thermal processing methods, Scalada Holdings’ technology and equipment makes use of staged separation processes for the desalination of brackish waters, thereby reducing energy use and overall cost.
“What makes our Elemental Ionization System so well suited to this project, is its ability to desalinate water sources without energy intensive equipment. As populations continue to soar, more countries are recognizing the need for water desalination and we at Scalada Holdings are thrilled to be a part of an industry that, as it evolves, increases the affordable viability of this process,” concluded Mr. Logan.
