Reed Group Releases Beta Formulary for ACOEM Practice Guidelines

New formulary makes industry-leading ACOEM treatment guidelines significantly more useful for clinicians, adjusters and other professionals who want to determine whether a medication is appropriate or not for a specific disorder. Free access to platform for users willing to offer feedback (take a short survey) after trying out the formulary.

Westminster, CO, December 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- New interactive formulary relates ACOEM evidence-based recommendations to NDC data from the FDA.

Reed Group, the recognized leader in managing employee absence and the exclusive publisher and distributor of ACOEM’s Practice Guidelines, today launched a major new feature of the ACOEM Practice Guidelines, a formulary linking various data elements to the Guidelines’ medication and injection recommendations.

The formulary is in a beta release to allow qualified users to provide feedback and help direct improvements to the formulary.

“The formulary is a major leap forward. It helps both providers and payers rapidly determine whether a medication is appropriate for the specific stage of a patient’s disorder,” said Dr. Kurt Hegmann, ACOEM Guidelines Editor in Chief. “Clinicians and professionals have a Hippocratic responsibility to use evidence-based guidelines to help make sound decisions regarding treatments or durations. Using evidence-based guidelines ensures faster healing, quicker return to work and fosters return-to-work decisions that are made on solid science and should be the first choice for anyone seeking the best outcomes.”

"This formulary directly links the scientific evidence behind the use of specific medications for specific conditions and provides information on alternative drugs which may be useful or, conversely, are potentially harmful. It is one of the clinically useful formularies currently available which also provides the necessary information for claims adjustors," said Dr. Kathryn Mueller, medical director of the Colorado Division of Workers Compensation.

Clinicians, utilization reviewers, insurance adjusters and others with a professional need for the tool who would like free access to APGI, and who are willing to provide feedback by completing a short survey can email guidelines@reedgroup.com to request a free trial subscription to the ACOEM Practice Guidelines and the beta formulary.
