NJ Walks for TS at Princeton Will Support the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome's Children’s Scholarship Program
Registration and fundraising for this awareness and fundraising walk, which will take place April 6, 2014, at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, will commence on January 6.
West Windsor, NJ, December 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders (NJCTS) is proud to announce that its signature NJ Walks for TS program is expanding with the debut of NJ Walks for TS at Princeton in 2014.
Coming on the heels of highly successful awareness and fundraising walks at Ramapo College and Mendham in 2013, NJ Walks for TS at Princeton will take place Sunday, April 6, at Mercer County Park in West Windsor. Like its sister walks, this event also will be a family fun run/walk over a 5K course.
“I’m very excited about the Princeton-area 5K walk on April 6 at Mercer County Park. This will be a great opportunity for folks in Central and Southern New Jersey to get family and friends out to help support the NJ Center for Tourette Syndrome,” said Tim Kowalski, a member of the NJCTS Board of Directors and chief organizer for this event. “This wonderful organization has helped so many kids with TS through its education outreach, family support and peer advocacy programs.”
The proceeds from NJ Walks for TS at Princeton will support another of NJCTS’ core services – the Children's Scholarship Program, which over the past 10 years has awarded scholarships to more than 200 graduating New Jersey high school seniors affected by Tourette Syndrome. These students have excelled in their studies, in their communities and in their personal lives – representing themselves as top-notch advocates for TS.
“The Children’s Scholarship Program is essential to NJCTS’ goal of supporting students affected by Tourette Syndrome who desire to further their education beyond high school,” NJCTS Executive Director Faith W. Rice said. “This program has been highly successful to date, but each year there are more students in need of aid who exhibit excellence in academic achievement, community service and accomplishments as an individual with Tourette Syndrome. We cannot provide this program without the continued support of the TS community through events such as NJ Walks for TS at Princeton.”
