The Grimes Companies Donates 3,500 Meals to Second Harvest Food Bank
Jacksonville, FL, December 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Giving back to the community is a part of the culture at The Grimes Companies, and the holiday season brings many opportunities to do just that. At this year’s Holiday Charity Event with The Transportation Club of Jacksonville, Grimes donated $500 to The Second Harvest Food Bank, matching the club’s donation.
“I was ecstatic when The Grimes Companies matched the Transportation Club’s donation and encouraged other companies to do the same!” asserted Dixie Moody, Transportation Office Administrator for Grimes Trucking Company and board member for the Transportation Club. “I am proud to be a part of both organizations, and also encourage everyone to donate and volunteer as well in support of our own community.”
Second Harvest North Florida distributes food and grocery products to hungry people and educates the public about the causes and possible solutions to problems of domestic hunger in Jacksonville and the surrounding counties. With every dollar donated providing 7 meals, Grimes is pleased knowing that their donation will support 3,500 meals for Jacksonville area families.
The Grimes Companies’ President Michael O’Leary believes in community involvement and being a responsible corporate citizen. “Besides the values I’ve learned from Tommy Grimes about giving, I’ve found it’s smart to invest in one’s community,” he remarked. “Certainly Second Harvest is a good organization to invest in, and there are also many other non-profits who need help to serve our community, especially at this time of year.” Grimes encourages other companies to be as generous as they can.
