Indonesia Water Purifier Market Set to Grow at 14% CAGR Till 2018, Says TechSci Research
Very low penetration level of water purifiers along with rising water borne diseases are accelerating the water purifiers market in Indonesia.
Burnaby, Canada, December 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- In Indonesia, 17% of the rural population and 5% of the urban population have no access to safe drinking water. Every year, about 300 out of 1,000 Indonesians suffer from water-borne diseases such as cholera, dysentery and typhoid fever. According to the recently published report by TechSci Research “Indonesia Water Purifier Market Forecast & Opportunities 2018,” the demand for water purifiers is increasing and water purifier market revenues are expected to grow by over two folds, increasing at the CAGR of around 14% during 2013-18.
In Indonesia, about 75.25% rivers are highly polluted, while 22.52% rivers are moderately polluted. A high level of contaminants, such as arsenic and fluoride causes about 50,000 deaths annually in Indonesia. Water contamination has been reported in both surface as well as ground water sources in the country.
Filter based water purifiers are becoming more popular among low income households due to its low cost, innovative filter media. The popularity of filter based water purifiers can also be associated with its non-requirement of electricity and running water as about 90-100 million people in Indonesia do not have access to electricity.
The companies such as Cleansui and Nesca are selling water purifiers with the help of distributors in the Indonesian market. On the other hand, likes of Lux and Elken Indonesia are engaged in direct selling of water purifiers in the country.
“It has been witnessed that affordability is the key barrier in selling membrane based water purifiers. As a result, with the emergence of technologies such as silver impregnated activated carbon and bio energy water purifiers, demand for filter based water purifiers has been highest in the total water purifier’s volume sales. Further, considering the increased R&D activities of the water purifier companies, more innovative and affordable water purifiers are expected to be introduced in Indonesia’s water purifiers market during the next five years,” said Mr. Karan Chechi, Research Director with TechSci Research, a research based global management consulting firm.
