NGTC (Next Generation Train Control) is the First Research Project Partially Funded by the European Commission Under the 7th Framework Programme
Under the NGTC project all main rail system signalling suppliers together with mainline operators and infrastructure managers as well as urban rail operators are going to be working jointly in developing the next generation of train control systems.
London, United Kingdom, January 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Technical leader of the UNIFE coordinated project NGTC, Mr David Dimmer of Thales Canada, will be presenting a Key Note presentation on the March 12th 2014 conference in London on Communications Based Train Control held by Sagacity Media Ltd.
The NGTC presentation will focus on key areas including the introduction of ERTMS, development of Urban train control systems, onboard and wayside equipment standard interfaces, technical and operational synergies, and the expected impact, delivery, development and harmonizations.
Recently, Mr. Philippe Citroën, Director-General of UNIFE, emphasized the importance of the NGTC project for the SHIFT2RAIL initiative: “NGTC needs to be seen in the wider context of rail research. It is one of the projects which pave the way to SHIFT²RAIL - An initiative that will allow us to make a step-change in research and development in Europe in the next coming years.”
The NGTC presentation, joined by leading Operations, Engineering and Technical Directors, will provide industry professionals first hand insight into how Europe’s leading Rail Operators and suppliers are meeting the challenges of implementing CBTC in new and existing infrastructure projects.
Additional Key Speakers and presentations include:
London Overground and Crossrail, Deputy Operations Director, Duncan Cross - Challenges of implementing CBTC
London Underground, Engineering Director, George Clarke - Planning for the railway of the future
London Underground, Hugh Bridge, SUP ATC Engineering Manager - Undertaking major signalling upgrades without impacting travelling customers
SNCF, Project Director, Said El Fassi - Holistic Modelling and Simulation
SNCF, Director of Technology, Strategy and Regulation, Dr. Pierre Messulam - ERTMS SNCF experience
B.C. Rapid Transit Company, Retiring Manager, Operations Planning (Expo/Millennium Lines), Ian Graham - 28 years of CBTC, a Skytrain case study
B.C Rapid Transit Company, Senior Engineer, Chris Morris- Technical lessons learned at Skytrain
Delcan Corporation, Vice President Rail and Transit Systems, Dr Alan Rumsey - A recipe for success in implementation
GTT Metro, Technological project innovation manager, Alberto Forchino - Risk, Requirements and developments
DB Netz AG, Project Leader openETCS, Klaus Rudiger Hase - How could openETCS help to integrate modern CBTC technology into the European Traffic Control System?
Mott MacDonald, Elaine Thompson, Principal Human Factors Engineer - ERTMS bridging the gap between technology and adoption, a human factors case study
