FastTrack Automation Studio Provides Solution to Glitches Experienced with Unattended Installations of TeamViewer
Canterbury, United Kingdom, January 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- FastTrack Software, the emerging leader in the development of Windows scripting tools, today announced its product provides a solution to issues some users are experiencing with TeamViewer®, one of the leading solutions for desktop sharing and online collaboration over the Internet.
The hundreds of thousands of users who don’t have a corporate license for TeamViewer can experience two issues when installing the product. First, TeamViewer starts only after a successful installation, which prevents a truly unattended installation. Second, the installation of TeamViewer is not in .msi format and this is a requirement.
“We first became aware of the problem users were experiencing with TeamViewer when a FastTrack customer came to us asking for suggestions on how to overcome this situation,” said Lars Pedersen, lead developer and CTO, FastTrack Software. “Over a very short period of time, the demand for a solution became obvious, so we created one within FastTrack.”
The first issue related to the fact that TeamViewer starts after a successful installation is addressed simply by extracting the real installation files. The process for doing this is provided on the FastTrack site. This then allows the user to execute the installation unattended.
The bigger issue is the fact that TeamViewer is not in .msi format. This means that it’s not possible to deploy TeamViewer using Group Policies or a management system such as SCCM.
“The beauty of the solution we have developed is the simplicity of the process,” Pedersen continued. “Even those with no scripting experience can be up and running with just a few mouse clicks using our ‘App Factory’ for .msi creation which provides a 2-step process for converting the .exe to a .msi.”
For those with more scripting experience, a custom script can be written and compiled into .msi format, for example, for repackaging software into a new .msi file including company license information or for repackaging multiple installations into one. msi file, preserving the sequence of installation.
