APlusPhysics Creates Series of Crossfit Videos Demonstrating Physics Concepts
APlusPhysics teamed with a local fitness gym, CrossFit Recourse in Webster, NY, to create a set of videos teaching students about work, energy, and power through the lens of exercise.
Rochester, NY, January 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Dan Fullerton, physics instructor and director of APlusPhysics.com, owned by Silly Beagle Productions, recently teamed with a local fitness gym, CrossFit Recourse, to create a set of videos to help students learn their physics.
Chris O'Donnell, owner of CrossFit Recourse, and Fullerton designed a video program in which athletes from the gym were videotaped as they completed a series of exercises. These recordings were then used to demonstrate basic physics principles and problem solving strategies in a new and unique setting.
Five athletes from the gym performed exercises such as barbell thrusters, pull-ups, rope climbs, and box jumps. From these recordings, a set of problems was created, which are reviewed in the first video, and solved in the second video.
"The students will use these videos as part of their mid-term review. Instead of standardized problems, the kids will use physics principles they've learned in class to analyze real-world situations, transferring basic understandings to new and unique contexts," Fullerton said.
The videos, and an associated problem set, are all freely available from APlusPhysics.com. For more information, please contact info@aplusphysics.com.
