Elizabeth, NJ, January 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA – Elizabeth Branch has lowered membership rates to better serve the Elizabeth community. “As a mission and community based organization, we are working to give back to our members by lowering our rates. The lower rates will allow us to help more people achieve their goals of healthy living,” stated Michael Brown, Membership Engagement Director for The Gateway Family YMCA – Elizabeth Branch.

As a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, The Gateway Family YMCA (formerly The YMCA of Eastern Union County) seeks to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Membership to the Elizabeth Branch provides access to a state of the art Health & Wellness Facility, located at 135 Madison Avenue in Elizabeth, includes a wellness orientation and many programs. The Elizabeth Branch facility completed an $8 million renovation project in 2013, providing handicap accessibility, complete building renovations and upgrades including multiple Health and Wellness Centers, new equipment, free member wifi and expanded and renovated residence facilities.

“The lower rates follow our mission of social responsibility; as a community organization, it is our duty to serve our community and to have rates that fit their economic capabilities,” added William G. The Elizabeth Branch provides programs and services for all members of the family, including group exercise, family programs, Diabetes Prevention, and Early Learning Readiness - a free preschool age caregiver/child program. In addition, members of the Elizabeth Branch are provided access to all 4 branches of The Gateway Family YMCA, located in Elizabeth, Rahway and Union. In 2013, membership joiner’s fees were also lowered throughout the Association.

Throughout Elizabeth and the surrounding communities, The Gateway Family YMCA provides lasting change and community impact. In addition to child care, summer camp, programs and membership, the Elizabeth Branch offers extensive housing and social services programs to support individuals in need of a safe environment, with opportunities to transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
