St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in New Tampa Gets Approval to Build New Church
Fr. David DeJulio announced to his parishioners that Bishop Lynch has given approval to build the New Church.
Tampa, FL, January 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- With hopes of becoming the spiritual hub of New Tampa, Fr. David DeJulio announced to his parishioners that Bishop Lynch has given approval to begin to build their new church. The Ground Breaking Ceremony will take place Saturday January 25, 2014. They are inviting all to attend this momentous event which will begin at 11:00 AM on the church’s 28 acre grounds located at 9724 Cross Creek Blvd. Tampa, Florida 33647.
St. Mark, which began as a ‘storefront parish’, met in the local high school in the late 90’s. It built it’s first building in late 2000 which became their Family Life Center. After the new Church opens, the existing Family Life Center which served as a temporary worship space and will be converted to an event center that will support theatre, concerts and wedding receptions. The center will seat over 800 theatre style and 500 plus banquet style. According to St. Mark’s Director of Development, Cyndi Letzeisen, “there is no place now in the New Tampa area that can support this capacity. Fr. David’s vision is for our parish to be a hub of activity that serves the entire New Tampa community. This will will become a very positive development for New Tampa community.”
The church is still actively raising money for the new construction and is hoping to find a major donor to provide the funds necessary to convert its existing building to the envisioned event center and is offering a unique naming rights opportunity as part of this effort.
