Primal Renews Gold Level Sponsorship of NICA
Cycling Apparel Maker Continues National Sponsorship of High School Mountain Bike Racing Leagues.
Denver, CO, January 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Primal just announced their continued support of NICA with a multiyear Gold Level Sponsorship. Over the previous three years, Primal has provided more than $300,000 in support of the growing high school cycling organization. In addition to Primal’s financial and in-kind support, high school mountain bike student athletes will lead off in the highest level competition cycling apparel, Primal’s Helix jersey. This upgrade to the Leaders’ apparel reflects the high level of competition that is taking place at a local and national level.
“The growth of competitive cycling at the high school level has been remarkable over the past few years,” commented Dave Edwards, President of Primal Wear, “NICA has been able to create a nationwide community that is energizing the youth and getting them involved with cycling. This is the future of our sport and our industry and it is paramount that we make it a priority.”
NICA, or the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, represented nearly 3,000 student athletes in 2013 and has grown from two leagues in 2009 to ten leagues in the current season. The largest growth has come from the mountain states which represented over one thousand athletes last year.
NICA Executive Director, Austin McInerny stated, "As an organization who has supported NICA since our inception in 2009, we are thrilled to renew and expand our efforts with Primal Wear in 2014 to grow school based cycling programs across the country. With Primal's support, we are able to offer extremely high quality cycling apparel for our student-athletes, coaches and Booster Club supporters while also strengthening our relationship with Primal's employees who are dedicated to promoting causes and events that benefit people's lives. Primal Wear is living up to their stated mission to foster the growth of cycling and we are proud to continue and grow our partnership with them.”
In addition to the national level financial sponsorship and Colorado League scholarship support, Primal has contributed merchandise for fundraising benefit events held in various NICA high school cycling leagues as well as custom apparel for NICA's Booster Club and licensed coaches.
As a longtime advocate for youth cycling, Primal continues to support many youth based cycling organizations around the country, including Trips For Kids, Wish for Wheels, Project Re-Cyclery, Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Courage Classic, The Cycle Effect, JML Racing and Little Bellas.
NICA's NorCal, SoCal, Texas and New York High School Cycling Leagues kick-off their 2014 competitive season in February. For more information on the individual leagues and their schedules as well as details on how to get involved, visit: http://www.nationalmtb.org/
