U.S. Senate Candidate Ken Cope Names Tea Party Activist Campaign Manager
Greg Jessen, a Tea Party activist, has joined the Cope Texas campaign. Jessen will manage the campaign of Ken Cope who is running for U.S. Senate.
Dallas, TX, January 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- U.S. Senate candidate Ken Cope has named Greg Jessen, a Tea Party activist and experienced political organizer, as his campaign manager as he seeks to unseat Senator John Cornyn in the March 4 Republican primary.
Jessen, of Waxahachie, has extensive political experience in West Virginia, where he founded and was president of the Mountaineer Tea Party LLC and Political Action Committee, a statewide organization. He worked in support of the 2012 West Virginia gubernatorial campaign of Bill Maloney as well as other campaigns for candidates in the West Virginia House of Delegates, the U.S. House, and the U.S. Senate.
"From the start, I have been running an entirely grassroots campaign, and this is where Greg Jessen has the experience that this campaign needs," Cope said. "He built a Tea Party network from the ground up in West Virginia, and has proven expertise in fundraising, team building, advertising, and of course grassroots organization."
Cope, a retired U.S. Army officer and businessman, is a new breed of Republican who emphasizes leadership and the need for a more inclusive Republican party that stands for fiscal responsibility and for economic growth that benefits all Americans. He has never before run for public office.
"With my Tea Party background, I'm naturally suspicious of politicians and political candidates, but Ken Cope is a man of integrity and faith, and someone I can believe in and work hard to elect," Jessen said. "He is just the kind of person we need to send to Washington to help fix the dysfunction there."
Cope has pledged that if elected, he would term-limit himself to two terms as Senator, and has vowed to limit any re-election fund-raising to only a short period before the next election. In this initial campaign, he is funding it himself and seeking small individual donations to make himself known to Republican voters across Texas.
In addition to his campaign work, Jessen has also served as a Veterans Affairs adviser to U.S. Rep. David McKinley of West Virginia.
