Walnut, CA, January 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Joy Global is a world-wide leader in high-productivity mining solutions. Through its market leading P&H and Joy brands, the company manufactures, markets and services original equipment and related aftermarket parts for the surface and underground mining industries. Joy Global products and related services are used extensively for the mining of iron ore, coal, copper, oil sands, gold and other mineral resources.
Since 2006, a campaign had been underway to expand the company's Iron Range facility in Virginia. In December 2012, these plans reached fruition as Joy Global unveiled its 82,000 square-foot facility on the old Haul Road alongside Highway 53. The mining equipment repair and service facility houses two 100-125 ton bridge cranes used to remove large items from mining trucks. It has multiple service bays, including a welding bay, machine shop, warehouse bay and supporting offices. In addition to serving local customers, the facility also refurbishes and sells used equipment and components for resale globally. The company currently employs about 60 employees at the facility. Virginia officials lobbied and worked hard for the project along with providing support for infrastructure with all the money coming via state, federal and Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Board grants.
