Enable America Online Jobs Board Improves Employer Access to People with Disabilities
Washington, DC, January 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Enable America has launched an online Jobs Board to improve employer access to a vital but often overlooked segment of the working population: people with disabilities. This tool on EnableAmerica.org is an added benefit for companies committed to building diversity in the workplace, who join Enable America as corporate sponsors.
“Enable America has long been committed to improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities, as proven with our Career Mentoring Days, Job Seeker Workshops, and VetConnect programs,” said Richard Salem, the organization’s founder and chairman. “The Jobs Board is the latest means by which we can electronically connect to millions more who want to work, while at the same time help our corporate partners find skilled and dedicated employees among our constituents.”
Through the Enable America Jobs Board employers have a dedicated section to provide their mission statement and highlight their latest career opportunities, which are updated weekly. Each section also includes a link back to the employer’s own web site and additional job postings.
“The Enable America Jobs Board is not only a tool to help companies find new employees, it also provides public acknowledgement of that company’s dedication to build diversity in their workplace,” said Chris Jadick, Enable America’s Executive Director. “We work with a number of great employers who are already onboard, and we welcome all others who can benefit from our programs and services.”
Companies that have joined Enable America’s corporate membership program include Eaton Corporation, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Lenovo, Duke Energy, Northwestern Mutual, EDM Americas, and VASTEC.
Enable America also produces Career Mentoring Days to provide work site educational opportunities, Job Skills Workshops that improve job seeking skills, and VetConnect programs dedicated to serving protected U.S. military veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The organization recently marked its 10th anniversary, and was hailed on the occasion by Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), who supported the organization from its start in 2002.
“Employment of people with disabilities is not something that is a charitable act. That's not what we're about,” Senator Harkin said at Enable America’s anniversary celebration. “What we're about is making sure that every individual has the opportunity to work, to work in a job that he or she enjoys, one that challenges them, and gives them the ability to proceed and to grow and develop more. That is where Enable America, under the great leadership of my dear friend Richard Salem, is right there, ready to go!”
Additional information on Enable America’s success, as well as future events and programs, can be found at EnableAmerica.org. Employers who want to learn more about joining as corporate sponsors can contact Executive Director Chris Jadick at Chris.Jadick@EnableAmerica.org, or by phone at (813) 222-3204.
