Bandwidth Monitoring is Now Supported in IPHost Network Monitor v3.5
Now the users of IPHost Network Monitor can check current network interface bandwidth usage and transferred traffic volume for a period of time. Both values can be monitored using SNMP or WMI.
Novosibirsk, Russia, January 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- IPHostMonitor Inc. announces a new release of IPHost Network Monitor, a reliable distributed network monitoring tool that supports the performance and uptime monitoring of Windows and Unix/Linux servers and workstations, network equipment and services, web applications and websites. This new release introduces support of traffic speed (bandwidth usage) monitoring and transferred traffic volume monitoring using both SNMP and WMI.
Almost every organization, from small company to big enterprise, has a network and Internet connection. Certainly this network infrastructure should operate with the least possible number of glitches and the administrator needs to be timely notified if one occurs. That is why network traffic monitoring is so important – the administrator should know about faulty network equipment and bottlenecks before they turn into a problem. Network traffic monitoring can also help to catch suspicious activity that can lead to performance or security related issues. With the new release of IPHost Network Monitor its users can do bandwidth monitoring. Networking hardware such as routers or switches, as well as UNIX/Linux servers and workstations, can be monitored using SNMP. Windows computers can be monitored using either WMI or SNMP.
With the help of Remote Network Agents the traffic in distributed networks can also be monitored. This functionality is required for service providers that have to be able to check the various parameters in customer’s networks. Our software is scalable enough for such a job, with one copy of IPHost Network Monitor up to 2000-5000 router interfaces or server performance characteristics can be controlled.
IPHost Network Monitor has an advanced and flexible alerting system so the tool can timely alert the administrator to issues using one or more notification methods, or attempt to automatically resolve the issue by executing a pre-defined script or binary on the affected server. The software can send an email or a text message (SMS) to a mobile phone (sending SMS via GSM modem is also supported for more reliable alerting), or post an instant notification to ICQ, Jabber, or AOL IM messengers.
IPHost Network Monitor supports a wide range of monitoring methods, from PING and TCP service connection check, to mail and database server monitoring, and to server performance characteristics monitoring using SNMP and WMI. Web site owners and webmasters can monitor a single web page or, with the help of Web Transaction Monitor, monitor web applications and e-commerce sites performance and uptime. An aspect that sets Web Transaction Monitor apart from most of traditional web monitoring tools is the real time monitoring of whole transactions such as the entire checkout process for an e-commerce site, user login and search function usage for a productivity web application instead of just periodical checks of uptime and page load time.
