IPA Charities Supports Chicago Foundation for Women
Buffalo Grove, IL, September 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- IPA Charities has contributed $2,500 to the Chicago Foundation for Women. This donation helped support the foundation’s 22nd Annual Luncheon & Symposium held on September 11, 2007.
The symposium included speeches conducted by various individuals such as activist, actor, writer and producer Kathy Najimy. It also highlighted and discussed the “What Will It Take?” campaign, a yearlong initiative conducted throughout Illinois and headed by members of the foundation. The campaign is based on the idea that, in order to find answers regarding violence against women and girls, you must ask the right questions. The Chicago Foundation for Women believes that more questions need to be asked concerning this subject.
Members of the organization reach out to those who have not always understood that they can do something about violence against women. To do this, the foundation has created a multi-faceted, strategic approach which will engage a variety of Illinois residents; teachers; business leaders; students; public policy makers; religious leaders; advocates; artists and many other community members in an educational campaign and dialogue.
The Chicago Foundation for Women is one of the largest women’s funds in the world. The foundation believes that all women and girls in the Chicago metropolitan area should have the opportunity to achieve their potential and to live in safe, just and healthy communities. The foundation’s work is rooted in three principles of women’s human rights: economic security, freedom from violence and access to health services. The organization’s core values include diversity, accessibility and choice.
The foundation supports the achievement of social justice through grant-making and advocacy. Since its inception more than 20 years ago, the Chicago Foundation for Women has awarded more than 2,300 grants totaling $13 million to hundreds of organizations that aim to make life better for women and girls.
