The Smartsley Technology Group Announces the Launch of Its Latest Client’s Website, The Cancer Club
The Research Triangle Park based website development firm, the Smartsley Technology Group, unveiled its latest client, www.thecancerclub.co.uk. The Cancer Club is a U.K. based website created by breast cancer survivor & author, Nuala Forsey.
Research Triangle Park, NC, September 28, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Unlike many of its counterparts, The Cancer Club website (www.thecancerclub.co.uk) was designed to be unconventional, technologically innovative, and spunky – much like its founder. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, Nuala Forsey shares her tumultuous, but courageous journey, from diagnosis to recovery in a very “real” and relatable way. She shares the ups, the downs, and the in betweens through a compilation of eleven very power vignettes contained in her new book (with cd), The Cancer Club – The Club No One Wants To Join.
“Working on The Cancer Club has been a much more challenging experience than I expected, but after seeing that so many women are suffering with their diagnosis in silence, I decided to publish my journals in an attempt to get people talking about the realities of some of the life challenging situations many of us will experience at some point in our lives,” says Nuala Forsey. “People consider me to be brave, gutsy, a fighter, and I certainly couldn't be accused of taking breast cancer lying down. However, I have to admit that this has been one of the hardest and most painful chapters of my life.”
Despite the many challenges along the way, Nuala retained the Smartsley Technology Group to develop a website that would provide inspiration, hope, and understanding to those traveling a similar path.
One of Nuala’s many goals was to provide a forum based community to encourage breast cancer patients and their families to come together and speak about their experiences. With this goal in mind, The Smartsley Technology Group deployed a variety of interactive options including: Nuala’s Blog, The Cancer Club on Facebook.com, and Nuala on Facebook.com. Each of these venues allow website visitors to remain current on the latest happenings in Nuala’s life, as well giving them the ability to post and respond to each others’ comments.
The Cancer Club website also offers a variety of free downloadable resources, recommended books, and iTunes that helped Nuala during her own struggle with her diagnosis.
The most important purpose of the Cancer Club website is to raise money for various breast cancer organizations through book sales and donations. To achieve her initial goal to raise £25,000.00, the Smartsley Technology Group developed an easily accessible online donation structure that can be used with or without the purchase of the Cancer Club book.
