Luminary Publishing Acquires Experience the Hudson Valley, Hudson Valley Tourism Publication
Luminary Publishing Inc. announces its acquisition of Experience the Hudson Valley, a bi-annual Hudson Valley tourism publication. Experience the Hudson Valley will continue as a wholly owned property of Luminary Publishing.
Kingston, NY, January 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Luminary Publishing Inc. is an independent media company based in Kingston, New York that specializes in creating media that illuminates the Hudson Valley lifestyle. Luminary Publishing first began 20 years ago with Chronogram, a monthly arts and culture magazine which was later joined by their quarterly real estate magazine, Upstate House, and online real estate blog Upstater.com to help bring the Hudson Valley lifestyle to New York City. In addition to their two flagship publications, Luminary Publishing creates custom publications for partner clients such as Ulster County Tourism, Dutchess County Tourism, Hudson Valley Tourism, and Walkway Over the Hudson.
Experience the Hudson Valley is a glossy, full-color booklet designed to be a compact, easy-to-use guide for visitors to the Hudson Valley. “Luminary Publishing was my first choice for a buyer,” says creator Chery Howaniec. Ms. Howaniec founded Experience the Hudson Valley in 2011. “I wanted to give Hudson Valley visitors a reliable guide that they could easily take with them as they explored,” Ms. Howaniec explains. “I knew Luminary Publishing would do a great job with it moving forward and I’m very excited to see the publication grow in the future.”
“Tourism is a growing industry,” Amara Projansky, CEO of Luminary Publishing adds. “Last year the visitors to New York State increased by 8.8 million. We expect the number to continue to grow. Experience the Hudson Valley is a great addition to our growing family of Hudson Valley publications.” Similar to Chronogram and Upstate House, Experience the Hudson Valley is full of useful information for visitors and locals—everything from seasonal listings of U-Pick farms to restaurant listings, B&B and hotel listings, retail stores, family attractions, events, and much more.
In addition to listings, the guide also features a centerfold map highlighting historic sites like Washington’s Headquarters and the Vanderbilt Mansion as well as major transportation hubs such as Stewart airport, and recreational attractions like the Walkway Over the Hudson. The guide will also have several web-only features such as online calendar listings, restaurant menus, and Facebook giveaways. Experience the Hudson Valley will offer several forms of advertising, both in print and online at ExperienceTheHudsonValley.com. “Experience the Hudson Valley will allow us to continue to provide quality advertising-supported publications supporting local businesses throughout the Hudson Valley,” adds Ms. Projansky. “Our combined publications will create an even stronger array of services we can provide to businesses that rely on visitors to the Hudson valley, both in print and online.”
Experience the Hudson Valley will continue to be distributed at New York State Thruway rest stops. “This is a great opportunity for Hudson Valley businesses to market themselves to a qualified and targeted tourism readership,” Ms. Projansky explains. “We have advertisers who’ve been loyal to us for 20 years. Now we can offer them a tourism focused advertising venue. As we start our third decade in the Hudson Valley, our plan is to continue to seek opportunities to acquire and partner with the highest quality local companies as we grow and discover new ways to support visitors, residents, and businesses in the Hudson Valley.”
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Business advisers Schwartz Heslin Group and attorneys Schneider, Pfahl, and Rahme provided transaction support to Luminary Publishing. Experience the Hudson Valley is published twice annually—in the spring and fall. The next issue will hit stands on May 1 of this year and will be available online at ExperienceTheHudsonValley.com.
