Mayhew Invites Guests to Celebrate Valentine’s Day by Loving Their Office Chairs

Toronto, Canada, January 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The majority of people are far from being “in love” with their office chairs. In fact, it’s more likely that their office chairs are causing them tremendous pain and health concerns. A BusinessWeek article tackled the subject and discovered that for most workers, the almost nine hours they spend in their office chairs are, quite honestly, excruciating. People have reported numbness, aches and other issues, all because their chairs were forcing their bodies into positions that didn’t “work” with human mechanics.

Using those facts as a basis for invention, Steelcase has set out to design a chair that is comfortable, not cruel. The Gesture chair was created after an exhaustive analysis of the numerous postures the modern worker takes while he or she is hard at work. With so many mobile devices at the ready, employees often have to contort their bodies to accommodate working on their smart phones, tablets, e-Readers and other gadgets. In turn, their contortions lead to undue stressors on various body points.

On February 13, 2014, representatives of the company will share their experiences as developers of the Gesture Chair during an event hosted by Mayhew at Steelcase’s corporate headquarters located at 200 King Street West, Suite 2400, Toronto.

The event, entitled “Love Your Chair,” will include presentations by seating solutions specialist Gabriela Scarritt, as well as a guest co-presenter via telepresence, at 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to experience the Gesture chair, but will also be entered to win one of three Gesture chairs. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and other giveaways will be offered.

“The Gesture chair is really where technology meets comfort,” explains Maurice Benatar, VP of Marketing, Mayhew. “We wanted to introduce this groundbreaking piece of workplace furniture and felt that the week of Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity. After all, every person should love his or her chair. If they don’t, they need to make the move to a Gesture.”

RSVPs for “Love Your Chair” are requested no later than February 7. Reservations can be made by emailing rterpselas@mayhew.ca or calling 905-707-4747, ext. 5052.

The Gesture is just one of countless items that Steelcase provides and can be purchased through Mayhew, a Steelcase preferred partner.
