Sunset Transportation Organizes Logistics for Largest One Day Food Drive
Sunset Transportation Will Organize the Logistics for the Largest One Day Food Drive in America for the Fourth Year in a Row
St. Louis, MO, September 28, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Sunset Transportation Helps Boy Scouts: Organizes Logistics for Largest Food Drive in America for the Fourth Year in a Row.
Sunset Transportation, a St. Louis based transportation and logistics company, will be volunteering for the fourth year in a row to organize the logistics for the countries largest one day food drive, Saturday, November 17, 2007. Sunset Transportation became involved in the “Scouting for Food” four years ago when the U.S. Army who used to handle the endeavor for the Boy Scouts was deployed to Iraq.
“Four years ago when I found out the Boy Scouts needed help transporting the food for the food drive, I was more than happy to help the community and country in a time of need,” says Jim Williams, CEO of Sunset Transportation. But now, it’s just part of what we do every year as a company.”
On Nov. 10, Boy Scouts will deliver bags to houses all over the greater St. Louis area to encourage people to fill them with canned goods. On Saturday, Nov. 17, the Boy Scouts will return to collect those bags and take them to local fire stations, where Sunset will organize over 50 tractor trailers to pick up what is expected to be over 2.5 million pounds of food and transport it to the St. Louis Food Bank, where it will be distributed to those in need (more than 400 food pantries).
None of this would be possible with out the help of the St. Louis based carriers; to be named specifically at a later date, who are donating their time, trucks and drivers.
