NEC Corporation of America Joins IJIS Institute as Sustaining Member
Leading technology provider of strategic IT and communications solutions latest to join prestigious member class.
Ashburn, VA, February 07, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The IJIS Institute—a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing and safeguarding for justice, public safety, and homeland security—announces that NEC Corporation of America has joined the Institute as a Sustaining Member.
An IJIS Institute Sustaining Membership is a highly visible and meaningful avenue for companies to express good corporate citizenship on a national level. This enhanced class of membership provides companies with an even more substantial avenue in which to support the IJIS Institute’s mission and its programs. In addition to providing significant financial support to the Institute’s programs, Sustaining Members lend expertise and partner with the IJIS Institute in special projects that further advance the mission and promote information sharing successes.
In return, Sustaining Members receive benefits in addition to those extended to the general membership of the IJIS Institute. These additional benefits include enhanced recognition on the Institute’s web site and in other promotional materials, expanded allowances for event attendance and participation, admission to invitation-only meetings with industry and government leaders, and a company-specific executive briefing by IJIS Institute executive staff on strategic issues important to information sharing initiatives and standards.
“We are proud to join the IJIS Institute, an organization that advocates the safekeeping and secure dissemination of crucial information across government and the private sector,” said Raffie Beroukhim, vice president, NEC Biometrics Solutions Division. “We look forward to being an active participant of the organization and support in achieving its mission.”
NEC has worked for decades with international police, prisons, and judicial systems. NEC’s automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) uses biometrics algorithms that have been validated as the best in the industry through comprehensive testing by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). NEC’s AFIS has been deployed in over 30 countries.
Steve Ambrosini, executive director of the IJIS Institute, stated, “I am pleased to welcome NEC as a Sustaining Member. Companies that join the IJIS Institute as Sustaining Members distinguish themselves as leaders in the field of information sharing through proactive involvement in Institute committees, events, and business development efforts. Our Sustaining Members are committed to engage in IJIS Institute programs and projects that will advance the national capability to achieve effective information sharing and safeguarding across communities of interest.”
