RE.WORK Launches a New Forum to Explore the Impact of Robotics in Society and Business
The Future of Robotics in Business and Society
London, United Kingdom, February 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- RE.WORK is launching a new series of forums to explore the impact advancing robotic technology will have on future business and society.
The next 15 years are predicted to see mass hybridisation between humans and robots. As robotics are becoming increasingly more intelligent, their ability to speak, understand natural language and see will allow their interaction with humans to become more prevalent. How will their increased presence in society affect our workplaces, industry and homes? First we must understand the key challenges to increased automation in areas such as agriculture, assisting in caring for elderly in the home and transforming manufacturing in a new industrial revolution.
The AI & Robotics Innovation Forum will explore the topics of: intelligent robotics, transport and the the autonomous car, the home and assisted living, manufacturing and the future of the factory, and farming and agriculture robotics.
Confirmed speakers include:
Paul Newman, BP Professor of Information Engineering at the University of Oxford, and also head of the Oxford Mobile Robotics Group, currently developing the RobotCar UK;
Tony Belpaeme, Professor of Cognitive Systems and Robotics at Plymouth University whose research focuses on designing better social human-robot interaction;
Nick Hawes, Senior Lecturer in Intelligent Robotics at the University of Birmingham, developing long-running autonomous mobile robots for security and care applications;
Simon Blackmore, Director of the National Centre for Precision Farming and a world-leader in the sector, focused on developing intelligent machines and processes to make crop production more efficient and sustainable;
Graham Southorn, Editor of BBC Focus, the monthly popular science and technology magazine, whose latest edition features ‘Robots Like Us: the new generation of faster, smarter and more emotional machines’.
The AI & Robotics Innovation Forum brings together world-leading researchers and practitioners in robotics to discuss and explore key challenges in the integration of robots into society and industry.
The aim is to:
Understand key impacts of robotics on industries including transport, healthcare, manufacturing and agriculture;
Highlight challenges to applications in business and society;
Learn how to leverage new technological robotic developments to progress your business;
Produce recommendations to encourage public engagement in the future of robotics;
Scope potential roadblocks with the public and key societal challenges;
Explore the broader context of integrating robotics into society and the image it portrays;
Define key stakeholders to be involved in a follow-up event.
RE.WORK founder Nikita Johnson said: “As robots are becoming increasingly more intelligent, their integration into future business and society is going to have an impact on everyone’s lives. Robots that can function independently of human command and can adapt to their surroundings and make decisions will have a major impact on industry and society in the next 15 years. It’s important to bring together key influencers to share cutting-edge technological developments and explore how we can successfully integrate robotics into society and engage the public in discussions.”
Aimed at high-level professionals, world-class researchers and industry experts, attendees will have the opportunity to network with leaders in the robotics field and build on the community of cutting-edge robotics developments in the UK.
Early-bird tickets are currently available at £155. Academic rates are also available. For further information and to register, go to: https://www.re-work.co/workshops/artificial-intelligence-robotics
