Erie Art Museum Now Accepting Works for 91st Annual Spring Show
The Erie Art Museum invites artists within a 250-mile radius of the City of Erie to submit works for the 91st Annual Spring Show. Submissions are accepted March 22 through April 6. Visit erieartmuseum.org for details.
Erie, PA, February 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Works are currently being accepted for the Erie Art Museum’s 91st Annual Spring Show, a regional juried exhibit, beginning Saturday, March 22, 2014. The deadline for entries is Sunday, April 6 at 5:00 p.m. A detailed schedule of when and where entries can be submitted is found at erieartmuseum.org.
All artists residing within 250 miles of the City of Erie are invited to enter up to three works not previously exhibited in the Erie area. A total of $10,000 in awards will be offered, including $2,000 in juror’s cash awards, the $500 Northwestern Pennsylvania Arts Association Award, and at least $7,500 in guaranteed purchases. The cash awards will be divided among the juror’s selections of the best work in the show. Purchase selections will be made by the firms and individuals offering purchase awards for the works selected for the exhibit. Each year, roughly 600 entries are submitted from over 300 artists; the juror will select between 70 and 90 works to compile the show.
The Spring Show will open in the Erie Art Museum’s Main Gallery with a private reception for the artists and Members of the Museum, Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The exhibit will open to the public the following day, Sunday, April 27. Prizes for all juried awards will be given at this time.
How to enter: Each entrant may submit up to 3 works. Entry fee is $5 per entry for Erie Art Museum members and $15 per entry for all others. Members must present membership card to receive discount. Works in all media may be entered, including painting, photography, graphics, sculpture, etc. Works should not exceed 72 inches in any dimension or weigh more than 100 pounds. Artists proposing to submit works requiring specialized installation should confer with Museum staff well before entry deadline. Entry form and appropriate fees, including handling and return shipping fee, should be enclosed with works. Deadline for entries is Sunday, April 6 at 5 pm (Shipped works must be received by Saturday, April 5). Works arriving after that date will not be considered. About the Juror
We are proud to announce that this year's Juror of Selection and Awards will be Sergei Isupov. A noted ceramicist, his unique works explore the dynamics of human relationships by combining two-dimensional narrative with three-dimensional ceramic form. Isupov has a long international résumé with work in numerous collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, de Young Museum, San Francisco, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and many other American and European museums.
The Erie Art Museum is pleased to partner once again with the Art Department of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania to bring Sergei Isupov to Erie. The artist will engage with students and faculty at Edinboro and present a public lecture on Thursday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Doucette Hall Room 119 at EUP.
