Built in America - Retired Vending Operator Builds Revolutionary Table Top Unit
The Clear Choice Revolution, built from the perspective of a snack vending operator, is designed to address the shortcomings of the existing available equipment currently attempting to serve the Small Location Vending market. Owen Larson, having a background in Computer Science, Systems Design along with his interest in motivational consultation and business development recruited top names in the field, such as General Electric, to facilitate the building of the Revolution.
Chicago, IL, September 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- As we approach the 2007 N.A.M.A. (National Automatic Merchandising Association) Convention at McCormick Place in Chicago, new American innovation is stepping up to lead the industry into the next phase of vending.
At the age of 37, Owen Larson sold his vending company and retired from vending operations in October 2001. Larson had experienced a wide gamut of challenges in his 15 year business career as a Snack/Soda Vending/HonorSnacks Operator in Chicago up until 2001. From losing almost everything in a disastrous fire in 1992 to losing his primary operating space and industrial property to an eminent domain case in 2000, Larson sold out the remainder of his holdings and launched into uncharted waters; the field of design, engineering and manufacturing with an objective to build a piece of equipment the Vending Industry has needed desperately for over 20 years. He defied all the naysayers by building his vending unit here in the United States of America. “I looked at China for a short period of time,” says Larson, “But I found that my heart told me to build it stateside. I was able to find toolmakers that were competitive with offshore prices.” He continues, “Innovation is still alive and strong here in America, you just have to look hard enough for people that still Think Outside the Box.”

Owen Larson, having a background in Computer Science, Systems Design along with his interest in motivational consultation and business development recruited top names in the field to facilitate the building of the Revolution. “General Electric, www.ge.com/innovation/, was an enormous ally to have on the project,” says Larson, “They provided me access to their engineering team as well as formulating a special polycarbonate I needed to address specific issues.”
To accomplish certain objectives, we had to design from the ground up. One result of design was the development of a Low-Cost Coin Acceptor built specifically for the Clear Choice Revolution. “There was nothing available in the existing marketplace, we decided to build our own,” says Larson. The Clear Choice Revolution utilizes a closed system debit card to initiate transactions as well as allow the customer to receive change for their purchases. The ability to provide the customer change via a card system is somewhat unique to Small Location Equipment. This capability exists on larger, more expensive equipment costing thousands of dollars; however, the Clear Choice Revolution carries a manufacturer direct price to the market of well under $1000.
Speed and ease of service are additional aspects of the Revolution; product in the machine can be completely loaded and the computer sales records captured in less than 90 seconds. The Clear Choice Revolution has the ability to record sales data as product is purchased from the machine. The Route Service Person simply plugs a (Palm OS) handheld into the Revolution and collects that data in a matter of seconds. When the Route Service Person completes his deliveries for the day, his handheld computer is connected to the office system and all the data is uploaded to the main computer system. “This system accomplishes some very important things for the vend operator. For example, at the end of the day, the sales figures are immediately available and the Route Service Person is held accountable for that amount of cash,” say Larson.
Owen Larson will be in attendance at the N.A.M.A. Convention on October 10, 11 & 12. If you would like additional information, he can be contacted at 636-244-9000 or via email: owen@ccrevolution.com. General information can be obtained at: www.ccrevolution.com.
