Summer Learning Program Expands Learning Time to Help Students Overcome Learning Loss
Schools across the country benefit from the ThinkStretch Summer Learning Program.
Ann Arbor, MI, February 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- ThinkStretch Summer Learning Program supports elementary and middle school students across the country in their battle against summer learning loss. The turn-key program is designed to expand learning time, increase family engagement and create a culture of learning.
ThinkStretch is pleased to announce Star Academy’s use of the ThinkStretch Summer Learning Program last summer for over 1,300 students from Pre-K heading to Kindergarten to 7th grade heading to 8th grade and highlight notable successes from other districts.
Star Academy was named the number one school in Michigan in Bridge Magazine’s third annual Academic State Champs report. “This report ranks Michigan’s schools from best to worst, based on the test scores and income levels of families,” according to a writer for Bridge Magazine. “Star International Academy in Dearborn Heights earned the top spot in Bridge’s top-to-bottom ranking.”
Tuscaloosa City Schools in Alabama also experienced notable success with the program. Combining family engagement with summer skill review using ThinkStretch for every student in every elementary school, Tuscaloosa has successfully built a culture of summer learning. When asked about the ThinkStretch Summer Learning Program, Dr. LaTanza Harrison, Director of Federal Programs for TCS, noted, “This is a huge help! Wonderful!”
The district takes advantage of the ThinkStretch professional development webinar, weekly summer activity newsletters and Spanish materials offered at no additional charge to help over 3,700 students in 11 elementary schools overcome summer learning loss.
“It is fantastic to see the impact our program has had on students and schools throughout the country. Every student should have the opportunity to keep their skills over the summer and return to school ready to learn,” says Donna Lasinski, President and author of the ThinkStretch Summer Learning Program. “We’re excited to continue our support of students, educators and parents in 2014.” Learn more about how ThinkStretch can help your school develop a successful summer learning program and expand learning time to combat summer learning loss: http://www.thinkstretch.com/explore.
