Marty Lyons Foundation Long Island Chapter to Host “Marty” Gras Cocktail Party

Commack, NY, February 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Marty Lyon’s Foundation – Long Island Chapter will host its first Annual “Marty” Gras Cocktail Party on Saturday, March 8, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at The Crescent Beach Club, in Bayville. Tickets are $100 per person and include a Creole Buffet, Open Bar and New Orleans jazz. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit The Marty Lyons Foundation’s mission to grant wishes to seriously ill children.

The party’s name, “Marty” Gras, is a play on words on the name of its founder and chairman – Marty Lyons, a former NFL star for the New York Jets and a member of the legendary New York Sack Exchange. After experiencing some personal issues, he was determined to establish a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to granting the wishes of seriously ill children. In 1982, with the encouragement of his family and friends, the Marty Lyons Foundation became a reality and has since succeeded in bringing joy into the lives of thousands of children and their families.

“Recently we reestablished the Foundation’s national headquarters on Long Island. The Commack location also serves as the meeting place for the Long Island Chapter, one of our 10 chapters serving 13 states. Over our more than 30-year history, the Foundation has granted over 6,500 wishes. Wishes can make the impossible seem possible and inspire children to find courage to wish for more,” said Marty Lyons.

The Marty Lyons Foundation is unique among wish-granting organizations in that it provides a first wish and will consider a second wish to deserving children who fall out of remission and are facing more battles with their illnesses.

“The Marty Gras at The Crescent Beach Club will be the first party of its kind hosted by the Long Island Chapter. It will be a gathering of supporters and volunteers that will strengthen our organization, foster new friendships and spread awareness of our mission. Most importantly, the funds raised will make it possible for more Long Island wish children to be granted their special wishes,” Marty added.
