Modest Coffee Opens to Make Great Coffee More Accessible
Ethically sourced and roasted to order, Modest Coffee is open for business.
Chicago, IL, April 10, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Husband and wife team Jennifer and Marcus Contaldo started up Modest Coffee because they wanted to make it easier to buy fresh roasted, high quality, single origin coffee online. Marcus, Roastmaster at Modest Coffee had been roasting coffee at home since the winter of 2011. What started out as a hobby, grew to a business and eventually turned into Modest Coffee.
"We noticed that everywhere you went online, fresh roasted coffee was ridiculously expensive," said Jenni. "We wanted to make these great small farm coffees more accessible to everyone." Modest Coffee seeks to address this by reduced packaging, streamlined operations and by offering free shipping on every order.
The first week Modest Coffee opened, it made a post to the website Reddit and the internet community responded. "Within the first 24 hours of our post, we had over 100 orders," said Jenni. Modest Coffee seeks to have a direct relationship with its clients by offering multiple outlets for communication including Twitter, Reddit, Facebook and direct email.
Modest Coffee goes through a rigorous selection process and samples dozens of beans before selecting the few that eventually make it to their customers. Each bean they select is all traceable back to the farmers or co-ops and Modest Coffee pays a premium to farmers who adhere to better social and environmental practices.
Modest Coffee curates three coffee subscription levels with a good, better, best model focusing on balanced, nuanced or award winning beans. The price points vary based on cost and quality of the beans and every order includes free shipping. The service starts at $12 per bag for The Modest which features a more consistent coffee bean. The Enthusiast is $15 per bag for beans focused on more nuanced flavors and exotic regions. The Collector series at $18 rounds out the offering and features award winning, rare, or otherwise unique beans.
Modest Coffee expects to be expanding into B2B and wholesale operations and for now they offer their coffee at their website www.modest-coffee.com
