U.S. Senate Candidate Ken Cope Pledges to Abolish IRS, Department of Education

Midlothian, TX, March 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- U.S. Senate candidate Ken Cope said today that if elected, he advises "IRS agents and a lot of bureaucrats" to update their resumes and be ready to look for other employment once he takes office.

Cope said that one of his first actions as Senator would be to introduce his Ken Cope 503 IRS Elimination Plan, which would abolish the Internal Revenue Service. He also will move to abolish the Department of Education and severely cut back the Environmental Protection Agency.

Cope, campaigning today in central Texas in his effort to unseat incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, said his absolute top priority is repealing Obamacare and establishing a free market framework for health insurance.

"I hope that by 2015, Obamacare will have self-destructed or otherwise been dismantled," Cope said, "but if not, I have a free market solution that I will work with fellow Senators to put forth to rescue Americans from the disaster that Obamacare is wreaking on our healthcare and our economy. This is the kind of leadership that Texans have a right to expect in their Senator."

Once that is in process, Cope said, he will move his 503 Plan forward, which eliminates the federal income tax structure and the IRS in favor of a streamlined, fairer tax system. And then he will train his sights on the Department of Education and the EPA.

"The Department of Education has achieved virtually nothing in its entire existence," Cope said. "We don't need it. And while I believe that the EPA has a place, I will move to scale back its scope and power, to protect landowners and businesses from hyper-regulation that accomplishes little except weighing down our lives and the economy."

Cope, a strong supporter of the Tea Party and small government, said as Senator he would take the lead in targeting many other federal agencies for close scrutiny and streamlining, with an eye toward reducing their staffs and their power.

"Basically, my suggestion is that IRS agents and a lot of bureaucrats start polishing up their resumes, because I want to see them find rewarding work outside government," Cope said. "We Americans simply can't afford the government we have anymore, and cuts are essential. And this is only the start."
