Russell Bedford Dublin Partner to Chair Irish Tax Liaison Sub-Committee
Cooney Carey tax partner Gerry Higgins appointed as chairman of TALC Collections sub-committee.
London, United Kingdom, March 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Gerry Higgins, tax partner in Russell Bedford’s Dublin member firm Cooney Carey, has been appointed as chairman of the Collections sub-committee of TALC - Ireland’s Taxation Administration Liaison Committee.
TALC was established in 1989 to facilitate liaison between Revenue (the Irish state tax authority), the Irish Tax Institute, the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies of Ireland (CCABI) and the Law Society of Ireland. TALC is the main forum for representations between Revenue and practitioners on the administration of tax in Ireland. It has five sub-committees, which are: Audit, Collections, Technical (Direct Taxes), Indirect Taxes and Capital Taxes.
Gerry Higgins is one of two tax services partners at Cooney Carey, covering all areas of taxation, with an emphasis on tax planning, corporate restructuring and wealth preservation. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland. He also a former President of the Leinster Society of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. His appointment follows his previous role as chairman of the Audit sub-committee of TALC.
In addition to Gerry Higgins’ appointment, Cooney Carey has also recently confirmed that audit and business advisory partner Paul Leonard and Lisa Byrne, leader of the firm’s forensics team, have joined The Panel of Mediators - a group dedicated to the promotion and education of the benefits of mediation in the Irish market.
Also, Mary Flanagan, the firm's Business and Secretarial Director has been appointed to the board of directors of the Institute of Management Consultants & Advisers (IMCA).
