Court Reporting Firm Huseby Inc. Expands in Tennessee with Merger Creating Vowell, Jennings & Huseby in Nashville, Memphis
Merger with long-established Tennessee court reporting firm has created Vowell, Jennings & Huseby, with offices in Memphis and Nashville.
Nashville, TN, March 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Huseby Inc., which offers court reporting and litigation support services in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, has expanded its long-established footprint in Tennessee through the creation of Vowell, Jennings and Huseby, based in Nashville and Memphis.
Vowell, Jennings & Huseby was created through the merger of Huseby Inc. of Charlotte, N.C. and Vowell & Jennings Court Reporters of Tennessee. The merger gives parent company Huseby Inc. a new location in Nashville, where it has long had an office, as well as Memphis. Huseby also has an established Chattanooga location.
Huseby also has offices in Arizona, California, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Georgia, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
As a result of the merger, Vowell, Jennings & Huseby has a high concentration of Tennessee’s best and most technologically savvy real-time court reporters.
“Our roots have run deep in Tennessee for over 30 years,” said Huseby Inc. CEO Scott Huseby. “This merger represents a major step in our ability to provide comprehensive one-stop litigation-support services to the legal community throughout the South as well as nationwide, and it continues our legacy of associating with the best in the industry.”
Gene Jennings and Jim Vowell will direct the work of Vowell, Jennings & Huseby from its base in Nashville. Vowell and Jennings began their partnership 38 years ago, after both had graduated from the Jacksonville Beach Institute of Court Reporting. In addition, Jennings has a B.S. from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan and an M.Ed. from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. Vowell attended the University of Tennessee at Nashville.
Both men hold the National Court Reporters Association designation of Registered Merit Reporter, which recognizes them as among the top court reporters in the country, indicating they type at speeds of up to 260 words per minute at 95 percent accuracy. Vowell is a three-time past president of the Tennessee Court Reporters Association and former board member. He has attended 32 of the last 40 national conventions and served on several NCRA committees.
“We're excited,” Jennings said about the merger. “We see Huseby as a resource of resources for technology and expansion that we could have never imagined otherwise.”
Vowell said, “We are probably most thankful for the family-driven aspect of the Huseby merger. Scott and his staff are very gracious and want to learn as much as they want to teach. I personally have always been enamored with expansion, but want to be able to manage it the right way. This gives us that opportunity. The strong support ties are invaluable.”
The firm started as Vowell & Young approximately 41 years ago. It was the first true court reporting firm with a downtown Nashville office and became Vowell & Jennings approximately three years later. The company’s philosophy has always been to spend money on office and location and focus on competency, service and hospitality in order to attract the best business.
Huseby said, “One of the things about this merger that is so captivating to me is that it takes Huseby back to its roots in Tennessee. My father, Stuart Huseby, did his first and only merger in Chattanooga, Tenn., in the early ‘80s with Dick Smith of Smith Reporting, who was a great mentor and adviser to my dad throughout his career.”
Smith, before he recently passed away, co-founded the Tennessee Court Reporters’ Association and became its president. He was also president of the National Court Reporter’s Association and ultimately received its highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. Smith was also a federal court reporter in Chattanooga.
