Bioo Scientific Launches Rapid Tests for EHDV Detection in Deer
Bioo Scientific launched two NovareDx™ ELISA tests today for the sensitive detection of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (EHDV) in deer and other ruminants.
Austin, TX, March 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Bioo Scientific is offering a new set of ELISA tests for the detection of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (EHDV), an orbivirus that infects most wild and domestic ruminants. EHD is endemic in many countries, particularly affecting white-tailed deer in North America. Two kits are currently available; the NovareDx™ - EHDV Detection Kit for the detection of EHDV antigen, ideal for early detection, and the NovareDx™ EHDV Antibody Test Kit, ideal for detection of EHDV antibodies.
The NovareDx - EHDV Detection Kit is a sandwich ELISA using a purified EHDV-specific monoclonal antibody as the capture antibody and a second monoclonal antibody that binds to a different EHDV epitope as the detection antibody. A peroxidase-labeled secondary antibody targets the detection antibody, producing a colorimetric measure of the amount of EHDV present in the sample. The assay is simple, rapid, sensitive and cost-effective for detecting EHDV from animal blood samples (serum or plasma). NovareDx EHDV Detection Kit is specific, with no cross-reactivity with bluetongue virus (BTV) serogroup, another member of the genus Orbivirus.
The NovareDx EHDV Antibody Test Kit is highly specific to the EHD serogroup, sensitive enough to detect low levels of antibody during early stages of infection, and highly reproducible. The assay is an indirect ELISA format and is directed against the highly conserved major viral protein, VP7. This method is easy to implement, rapid and reliable, and particularly suited to analyzing large numbers of samples.
