Michelangelo Eliminates Defects on Any Metal Stamping Press
Michelangelo’s patented bolster-mounted system produces zero defects by eliminating wrinkling, tearing and splitting & is cost-effective & configurable for any press & any die.
Montreal, Canada, March 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Michelangelo Stamping Inc. today announces they have released their patented bolster-mounted stamping system that produces zero defects by eliminating wrinkling, tearing and splitting saving manufacturers thousands of dollars per day.
Michelangelo is a complete blank-holder force actuation system with hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic pressure tanks, manifolds with servo-valves, digital computerized control system and customized software user interface. The system uses their patented hydraulic force control technology integrated into a bolster on which the die can be mounted and placed in a press.
Each Michelangelo hydraulic cylinder provides tonnage in the range of 0.5 – 25 tons while costing 50%-60% less than an equivalent nitro (gas spring). By using Michelangelo instead of nitros, the cost for binder force generation can be reduced by up to 70%.
In production, the use of smaller blanks as detailed above together with scrap reduction using automatic tonnage corrections to accommodate for lube build-up, die temperature changes and small thickness variations results in material savings in the range of 6%-10%. For an aluminum door-inner panel, this works out to more than $1,000/hour, assuming the parts are being made in a line operating at 10 strokes/min.
Furthermore, downtime to correct production defects is minimized. By using Michelangelo, these costs can be significantly reduced.
Finally, by ensuring a correct binder force tonnage profile, press impact forces are reduced, leading to increased press wear and lower press maintenance costs.
