CBTL Status Newly Awarded to SGS Medical Devices Testing Laboratory in Tampere, Finland
The SGS Fimko CB laboratory for testing and assessment of medical equipment in Tampere, opened its doors in January 2013 and received the CBTL status and accreditation at the end of 2013.

The new laboratory in Tampere and the team of experts in testing and assessment of medical equipment working there will complement the wide range of services provided by the SGS Fimko’s medical division in Helsinki.
Establishing the laboratory in Tampere is a part of SGS Fimko’s and the SGS Group’s development plan for testing, certification and Notified Body services in medical device sector. The Helsinki testing laboratory had already obtained an international CBTL status and accreditation for its operations earlier in 2012. SGS Fimko is today also a Notified Body 0598 according to Medical Device Directive.
Mr. Heikki Pitkänen has been nominated group leader of the Tampere team. He has earlier worked for VTT Expert Services as Team Leader of the health care equipment team. The Tampere department will report to Mr. Seppo Vahasalo, Product Line Manager of Medical Devices.
