Blue Bucket Games Captures Another Award with Its Innovative Game Healthy Habits
Blue Bucket Games, LLC has been named one of the winners of the 2008 Teachers’ ChoiceSM Award for the Classroom from Learning® Magazine for its Healthy Habits Game.
Austin, TX, October 05, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Blue Bucket Games, LLC has been named one of the winners of the 2008 Teachers’ ChoiceSM Award for the Classroom from Learning® Magazine for its Healthy Habits Game. The Healthy Habits Game teaches good exercise, nutrition, sleep and personal hygiene choices, one of the few learning tools that reinforces these important routines. “Health is not something my students typically enjoy because I had not yet found an interesting way to present it. Now I have it,” said a teacher who evaluated the Healthy Habits Game.
Kathleen Zang, a veteran preschool teacher and company founder, created this game in her classroom to engage her students. With the Healthy Habits Game, the children act as the game pieces, moving around the "game board" as the play progresses. The large game cards can be set up around the room in any pattern - winding around the room, under tables, in and out of doors. “The game aspect of this product made it a very powerful learning tool. Students were up, moving, reading and learning about healthy habits. It fits directly with the curriculum for healthful living,” commented one teacher who evaluated the game.
Kathleen Zang said she was proud her small company could compete with large corporations, while continuing to manufacture its product in the United States. “It is such an honor to receive this award and to be included with major educational companies like Scholastic, Weekly Reader and National Geographic. We are still a very small company – just my sister and I. To receive a prestigious award such as this really validates what I have known all along… educators are constantly searching for creative ways to reach their students and children love our games,” says Zang.

About Learning Magazines Teachers’ Choice Awards
In 1994, Learning® Magazine introduced the first Teachers’ ChoiceSM Awards program. Over the years, the program has grown to become one of the most recognized and prestigious awards in the educational market. For the 14th annual program, 82 winners were chosen based on their scores from the evaluations done by a panel of teachers across the country. A team of teachers evaluates each product in the classroom. The products are evaluated on quality, instructional value, ease of use and innovation. Each product is evaluated on its own merit. Only those products that meet their teachers’ stringent standards are chosen to receive a Teachers’ ChoiceSM Award. The Teachers’ ChoiceSM is the only awards program that is exclusively judged by teachers in the classroom.
