Orbus Exhibit & Display Group’s 2013 Environmental Protection and Recycling Efforts Saves 3,400+ Trees and Much More
Orbus Exhibit & Display Group™ is proud to commit year round to a high level of environmental protection efforts by recycling and reusing materials used in the production and manufacturing processes.
Bolingbrook, IL, March 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Orbus Exhibit & Display Group™, one of North America’s leading trade suppliers of display, exhibit and event solutions, is proud to commit year round to a high level of environmental protection efforts by recycling and reusing materials used in the production and manufacturing processes. The group’s three facilities in Bolingbrook and Niles, IL and Las Vegas, NV are certified under the ISO 14001:2004 standard, and work daily to reduce waste headed to landfills.
In 2013, the group’s manufacturing and production facilities strove to protect natural resources as outlined under ISO 14001:2004, and achieved great results. Combined efforts recycled 273.2 tons of cardboard, plastic and aluminum, saving over 50% of the energy used in the production of new paper and metal materials.
3,575 trees and 1,472,100 gallons of water were saved through the recycling of 210.3 tons of cardboard, which will be repurposed into napkins, paper towels, chairs and towels. Recycling 33.7 tons of plastic helped protect the oceans and wildlife in them, and the recycled materials can be used to create bridges, paint, pens, headphones and more. With 29.2 tons of scrap aluminum recycled by Orbus in 2013, 200 new cars using an average of 300 pounds of aluminum each could be created, and over 400,000 hours of kilowatt energy were saved. These materials can also be recycled to make new airplanes.
The ISO 14001:2004 standard provides guidelines to organizations working to establish and maintain an environmental management system. Guidelines such as minimizing harmful effects on the environment caused by business activities, preventing pollution, and achieving continual improvement of environmental performance are included under this standard. Orbus’ Bolingbrook, Niles and Las Vegas operate under these guidelines daily, and the group looks forward to continuing its environmental efforts throughout 2014.
