Global Healthcare Travel Council 1st Annual Executive Board Meeting 6 March 2014 – Dubai - UAE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- A "Report-back" Preamble

The 1st Annual Meeting of the Global Healthcare Travel Council was held during IMTEC 2014 in Dubai.

During the Meeting, a number of issues were discussed and agreed upon.

These are summarized below.

Extension of the term of the Executive Board
It was decided to extend the term of the Executive Board for a further one year (or until the IMTEC 2015).

Additional Vice Presidents
Three additional Vice Presidents were appointed:
· Ms Jia Xiao Fang (China)
· Mr. Antonios Vlachousis (Greece)
· Ms Violetta Yanyshevskaya (Ukraine)

Ethics and Compliance
Dr. Constantine Constantinides (a member of the Advisory Board) was given the mandate to draft the “GHTC Ethical Standards and Code of Conduct” which will apply to all Members of the GHTC.

Other GHTC initiatives
A number of other initiatives which the GHTC might embark on were briefly discussed. These will be considered by the members of the Executive and Advisory Boards, in due course.

The linking of National Medical Tourism Portals …with the Global Healthcare Travel Council site
It was decided that the Global Healthcare Travel Council website would list National Medical Tourism Portals – and that there would be interlinking between the GHTC website and national Medical Tourism portals.

Several countries announced that the their National Medical Tourism Portals would be participating in this scheme.

The next Meeting
It was decided that the next GHTC Meeting will be held during the next IMTEC event (in 2015).

Prospective New Member-Countries
Representatives from several countries have expressed an interest in getting their organizations to become members of the GHTC.

These “expressions of interest” are being considered by the Executive and Advisory Boards – with regards to eligibility. The eligible organizations (and their corresponding countries) will be announced in due course.
