Vital Link of Orange County Announces 2014 STEM & the Arts Career Showcase, in Partnership with OC Fair Imaginology
Hands-on opportunity for students to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, math and the arts to be held April 11-13 at the OC Fair & Event Center.
Costa Mesa, CA, March 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Vital Link of Orange County announced today it will host the 2014 STEM & the Arts Career Showcase, in partnership with OC Fair Imaginology, at the OC Fair & Event Center on April 11th, 12th, and 13th. The showcase will be a collaboration of sponsors and exhibitors from the corporate, education, and nonprofit worlds coming together to create an engaging, interactive career exploration experience for students emphasizing careers in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and the arts.
Over 4,000 students and families are expected to attend this free event featuring hands-on exhibits, experiential workshops, speakers, and industry and education displays focused on inspiring middle school, high school, and community college students to explore, discover, and connect to their future careers.
Vital Link’s President and CEO, Kathy Johnson, reminds us that, “Youth today need to see the relevance of the information they are getting in school. Making the connection between what they are learning and how they can apply it to their life and future career is essential. Interactive exhibits, meeting the experts, college demonstrations, and opportunities to build their skills are only a part of what attendees will experience during the three-day showcase.”
The showcase will include: Vital Link’s hands-on career exploration exhibits (for design, engineering, environmental sciences, health sciences, and transportation), industry speakers, industry demonstrations and interactive exhibits, student science and engineering displays, an interactive robotics competition featuring student-built robots, alternative fuel vehicles designed by Orange County high school and college student teams for the 2014 Energy Invitational, digital media arts competition displays, a student-designed fashion show hosted by Fashionomics Live!, a movement workshop led by Tim Stevenson (choreographer for A-list musicians), community college exhibits, STEM-related nonprofit organization exhibits (with information about internships and paid positions), a job recruitment area, live entertainment featuring successful young performers, and much more.
Current sponsors include Bank of America, KSBR 88.5 FM, OC Fair & Event Center, OC Fair Imaginology, Orange County Workforce Investment Board (OC WIB), QBE, Saddleback College, Southern California Edison, State Street, and SunPower.
