Itmarksthespot Llc, an Artist's Advisory Service and Micro-Gallery Launches in NYC
New York, NY, March 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Bringing over 20 years of cultural marketing to focus on the social marketing of art, Eileen A. Zyko announces itmarksthespot llc and its first season of shows.
An Art History / Film graduate of Vassar College, Ms. Zyko's experience covers fashion (Diane Von Furstenberg,) entertainment (Comedy Central, Saturday Night Live, Creative Artists Agency, Virgin Records America, The Knitting Factory,) large and small-scale event production, and art, having started her career at the Pace Gallery.
An early social media marketer focussing on media properties and one-time "mom blogger," her goal is to simultaneously improve the ability for career artists to automate their digital lives and connect with potential customers as well as disrupt the contemporary gallery model of white walls and reverential silence. "I believe art needn't be served separately from other forms of cultural consumption; and neither does it need to be outrageously expensive. Wonderful, affordable art by fantastic, accessible artists across many mediums is within reach of anyone who wants to add some original beauty to their lives. I similarly believe a gallery should be a vibrant place for gathering and learning, where a community Pilates class, organic wine tasting, impromptu jam session or a fashion trunk show can occur surrounded by prints, paintings and photographs."
Having just wrapped up a year-long social marketing push for Manhattan Graphics Center and curated the successful One/1 show in their project space, Ms. Zyko will work with The Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors as they plan a show at the Sylvia Wald & Po Kim Art Gallery in 201' and Kenya Spare a Camera to bring Norman Golightly's photographic project with the Cura Orphanage, based in Nairobi, to a wider public.
With a motto of "Every artist has a story; tell yours," itmarksthespot (a name given to the venture by Ms. Zyko's sons who are firm believers in pirates and the "x's" that mark their treasure,) begins her first season with the following narratives.
Animalia: creatures in print & small sculptures by Anneli Arms. NYC born and bred and a fixture in the SoHo / Bridgehampton art scenes since the 1950's Anneli is a prolific sculptor and printmaker with a decidedly political bent. Showing a small selection of her delightfully animated and artistically complex sculptures is the beginning of a process to seek greater recognition for an artist of immense talent.
Show dates: 4/5/2014 - 5/8/2014
Opening: Saturday 4/12/2014 from 2-5pm.
An online catalog will be available.
Top This: Detritus Intaglios by Stuart Rapeport, and some dogs. A Los Angeles based artist and Cal State grad, Stu imbues his graphically-bent work with humor and intelligence. The show will consist of a group of recent prints of found objects, dog sculptures and the East Coast's first visit by the DogHeadShop, in addition to an online catalog of music written and performed for the art by up-and-coming musician Luke Nutting.
Show dates: 5/9/2014 to 6/13/2014
Opening: Saturday 5/10/2014 from 12:30-5:30pm featuring a special performance by Luke Nutting.
An online catalog featuring music by Luke Nutting will be available.
Wordbowl: online meets offline as language meets image in a collaborative group show between Charlie Schroder's Wordbowl blog and 7 artists who have considered her crowdsourced stories through their own artistic lens.
