CBM-TEC Offers Free Exploration, Production and Processing Sessions in Kitwe in April

Kitwe, Zambia, March 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The upcoming Copperbelt Mining Trade Expo and Conference or CBM-TEC in Zambia’s mining hub Kitwe from 28-29 April is offering free-to-attend sessions on the exhibition floor for all visitors. These focus not only on the next exploration hot spots in Zambia but also on solutions to ensure optimal quality in mining operations and processing.

Zambia’s Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development, the Hon. Christopher Yaluma, will be the keynote speaker at CBM-TEC which is organised in association with Electra Mining Africa.

“CBM-TEC’s offering is unique because it takes the marketplace to the operations while addressing technical and practical issues in the Zambian mining sector,” says event director Nicole Smith. She continues: “the sector is booming, just in 2011, the Zambian mining & quarrying sector grew by 15,7% and witnessed $1.04 billion of foreign direct investment during the same time period. Such a dynamic sector urgently needs skills and expertise. Hence our very practical programme with free technical workshops and presentations aimed at engineers, geologists and plant managers.”

Chamber of Mines
The CEO of the Chamber of Mines of Zambia, Mrs Maureen J Dlamini, says the skills shortage is a problem at the moment “though industry is trying to come up with training interventions that may improve the quality and quantity of skills.” The Chamber is an official partner of CBM-TEC and the President of the Chamber, Mr. Emmanuel Mutati, is a featured speaker during the conference. Says Mrs Dlamini: “the industry itself is pooling its resources with the Chamber, government and training institutions to come up with skills development programmes to increase and improve the skills base of the sector. In so doing we are providing a pool of resources that the new investors can employ when starting their operations.”
