Exhibitors Capture Leads from NFC Digital Badges at Mobile World Congress

ITN International adapts its lead retrieval app for phone-to-phone capture.

Bethesda, MD, March 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- A purpose-built release of ITN International’s BCARD Reader enabled exhibitors at Mobile World Congress 2014 to capture leads from the digital NFC badges many attendees carried on their phones at the Barcelona mega-show last month.

Attendees participating in the “NFC Experience,” an onsite program designed by show management to provide a bundle of event-enhancing NFC services, received one especially practical, time-saving amenity: an NFC digital badge.

The NFC digital badge allowed attendees to gain access to the venue without repeatedly needing to show a physical photo ID at the entrances. Instead, attendees accessed the venue through dedicated entrance lanes, where they simply tapped a reader with their phones.

According to show management, 10,000 attendees took advantage of the NFC digital badge during Mobile World Congress 2014, which took place February 24-27.

So that exhibitors could capture leads from attendees’ NFC digital badges, ITN adapted its lead retrieval app, BCARD Reader, to read those badges both on Android and WP8 phones.

Exhibitors who used BCARD Reader either on an Android or WP8 phone could capture a lead from an attendee’s NFC digital badge by touching the phones together.

The transport of contact data from the NFC digital badge to BCARD Reader took place through an operational mode of the mobile devices known as “peer-to-peer.”

“ITN is committed to providing exhibitors a seamless lead retrieval experience at every event,” says Ivan Lazarev, President and CEO. “Because we anticipated attendee adoption of the NFC digital badge at Mobile World Congress would be significant, there was no question we needed to add phone-to-phone functionality to BCARD Reader for the show. As it turned out, exhibitors were pleased we did.”
